Developed in Unreal Engine in collaboration with the Game Design and Development Program at Quinnipiac University, Ad-Tacker is an augmented reality media literacy game that demonstrates the marketing strategies used by advertising campaigns.
QU’s Game Design and Development program received an Epic MegaGrant to build out their VR/AR game development program and support student interns who will to collaborate with the play4REAL XR Lab to bring Ad-Tacker to life!
The Game Design & Development students who contributed thus far are Ryan Barthelet, Gustave Gibbs, Daniel Little, William McBride, Ricardo Velez, and Joshua Rigsby.
In the game, the player can disassemble real ads to learn how the component parts are used to influence buying behavior. In future iterations of the game, players will use pieces of ads collected during disassembly to tack together ads of their own, reverse engineering ads to further learn about ad design strategies.
